On this day in 1978, President Jimmy Carter signed into law the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness Act. I’m pretty happy about that.

I didn’t realize that it was as recent as the Carter administration. Well, recent is relative, it was within my lifetime! May the vision not be lost to future politicians…we must always be vigilant.
