That is absolutely the craziest coincidence of 2008 for me. No way.

I'm going to shoot you an email at my earliest convenience.

And I don't specifically remember anybody yelling "show me your face" but I have no doubt that it could have come out of a certain member of my crew. :) Funny stuff indeed.

This is creepy man. I was ~200 yards away from you for this entire deal. Camped adjacent to you I think... we camp there every year. Pretty cool to read this perspective...

FYI: those ranger gals FINED us this year for coming in on two different days (splitting our party into two entry groups). We were good with it - they were right and we screwed up. We were only six though - not the big group they were referring to.

Here is my post on BWCA 2008:

Was one of your crew the "show me your face" yeller? HA!

Checking out Minnesota related blogs and stumbled in here. Very very interesting topics and writing. I love the BWCAW and your stories and pictures of it. The St Croix was were I first learned how to canoe as I grew up in St. Paul.

Good writing! You'd think those bears would get used to the banging of pots and pans at some point and just put up with it. Or maybe they know what they're doing and go around scaring humans just for fun. :)

it does seem odd to be laughing at your story about bears in camp, which has always seemed like it would be scary. glad you survived!

Interesting as we were just preparing for a trip into this area. I think we're going to switch entry points as we were debating between a couple. Last fall we were headed up to this area as well and were warned by the rangers of bear trouble.

Someone is feeding the bears....:)

Awesome trip report! Favorite phrase: "ursine affront."

Sorry you had so many visits from the hungry bear. Maybe he saw you in that hammock and started thinking about burritos...
