If You Can Read This…

…you’re one of the lucky ones.

I am aware that this site has been loading very, very slowly lately. I apologize for that and ask that you hang in there with me. I’ve contacted my hosting provider’s technical support and gotten absolutely none. I am hoping to switch to a new provider in the next few weeks, in the meantime let me just say that I highly do not recommend iPowerWeb if you’re considering Web hosting. (My favorite exchange was when I reported how slow the site is loading and they responded that it is actually loading fine.)

Anyway, just wanted to apologize for the hassle of loading this site and reassure you that things should be better soon.

I hope.

p.s. - in the meantime, if you feel like it, please post in the comments approximately how long it took you to load this page and what kind of Internet connection you’re working with.

bum, it took me 3-4 minutes to load the second page of your bwca write-up, i had to try several times of reloading just to get it to move. opening your main page is always slow too, today probably 2-3 minutes to open. i’ll hang in here, no worries! good luck.

It takes over a minute at work, where I have cable Internet, and slightly longer at home where I have DSL. Hope you can find something that works faster, and with better tech support!

By the way, tall is good! :) My 9 year old son “Calvin” has already reached the 5 foot mark, and will probably be taller than me (5′7) in a year or two! It runs in the family.

45 seconds to load the comments page, over a minute on the home page. I am on one of the fastest connections in the mid-west as are you when at work. :)

I don’t know if you are shopping for a new host or not but I am hosted at Inet7 (http://www.inet7.com) - They are a local St. Paul company, Their basic package is more expensive than iPowerweb but they make up for it in live person availability and service. That makes them fairly reasonable if you ask me. Plus they have a reseller program that you could use for your web design clients.

Their servers are collocated at the Visi data center in downtown St. Paul and are pretty much never down. ( / Plug)

Page load is 45 sec to a minute for me on the main page, and 1min 15sec when clicking to the comment page, I’m using DSL.

Sorry to hear you’re having server issues. I believe there’s a script to read to users before acknowledging there is a problem on the server side.
