Monday evening, after a daytime high well into the 70s, I rode my bike to the beer store, bought a twelver of Leinie’s Original cans, bungeed it to my bike rack and rode home.
That same night, Rosie and I went to the first barbecue of the year over at Scrubs and Wrench’s. I wore shorts and sandals.
We got a lot of rain late last week, and though it was… wet, all I could think was how the trees were drinking it up and how the buds will soon appear on the trees, finally awakening the landscape in an undeniable way.
Last night, I sat on the patio at Town Hall Brewery with Wrench and Canoeman and had a couple beers. The Twins were playing their home opener a mile away and after the game was over (7-6 Twins!), the patio filled up with jubilant fans.
I turned the vents in my car from windshield and floor to floor and panel in what seemed like a final way. I also cranked the heat control from the red part of the dial all the way into the blue.
Yesterday, I walked out to my car in the morning without even considering putting a jacket on. I did the same today, while wearing short sleeves.
So goes winter, so arrives spring.

Windows open, frogs singing, the smell of damp earth, burgers on the grill, Twins on the radio, and a cooler full of Leinies. I love this time of year!
