Buckets of rain
Buckets of tears
Got all them buckets comin’ out of my ears.
Buckets of moonbeams in my hand,
I got all the love, honey baby,
You can stand.
~ Bob Dylan
It has rained here. Oh, it has rained here. Yesterday, 4.61 inches. There have been waves of thunder, flashes of lightning, blasts of wind, even periods of calm and light when it seemed like it might be over. But through much of the last 36 hours there has been rain. Intersections flooded and impassable. Rivers over their banks.
If this weather had arrived a few weeks later we probably would have seen a blizzard to rival the legendary Halloween Blizzard of 1991. But it came now, a blast of springtime in the autumn, but with winter racing toward us instead of summer. Autumn here is often a little wet, with the cold air violently evicting the lingering warm air of summer and creating storms. But yesterday blew the single-day records for October out of the water.
Inexplicably, in the middle of some of the worst of it last night, Rosie and I went over to our friends Wrench and Nurse’s and grilled last night. It might seem a little silly, but I think you would have done it too. Wrench and I tended the grill with the aid of umbrellas and rain jackets but we still ended up soaked.
I don’t think I know what the point of this post is, but I don’t know what the point of this rain is either, and all I can do is duly note its awesomeness.

Wasn’t that rain just unreal? I listened to it all last night, and at some point I just thought the whole world was going to wash away. We ended up with about 6 inches, and a minor leak in the roof. It’s really discouraging, when we’re trying to get the house built.
I really came here looking for my blog. I’m online at home for the first time in months, and I can’t seem to access it! Thought I might try the link here just to make sure. Blogger must be down.
Deb, sorry to hear about your roof. That sucks! This is the roof of your cabin, not the house? I wouldn’t imagine you’re alone in this discovery, I have a feeling this rain proved a bit too much for a lot of roofs lately.
Your blog seems to be working fine this morning. Finally get your fixed computer home?
I had no idea that you were seeing such crazy rain over there. We haven’t had much except high winds. I think they peaked at 70mph in the Champlain Valley. Guess fishing’s out of the question right now too. Hmmm. Hope you’re doing well and staying dry.
