The Farmer’s Market

Went to the farmer’s market Saturday morning. Excellent as always. Bagel, coffee, strolling and shopping. Tons of people. It is definitely at its peak for the season.

Bum, that photo of the sunflowers is gorgeous! It’s my favorite time of the year at the Farmers’ Market. There’s so much produce: you’ve still got your early summer veggies like cucumbers and peppers and annuals and herbs, and then the late-summer produce of tomatoes coming in, garlic, watermelons, potatoes that are big and fat, and sweet corn that is super sweet and tender. I can’t wait for the big bushels of tomatoes and fresh basil and what I’m gonna do with those!

Beautiful photos. I love farmers’ markets, and St. Paul’s is hard to beat; unfortunately I’m about 90 miles away from it! When we lived in California for a short time, there was a wonderful little farmers’ market in Boonville (home of Anderson Valley Brewing Company, which makes some of the best beers on the planet). What it lacked in size it made up for in quality and atmosphere; they even had music.

Glad you guys enjoyed the photos… As an amateur photographer, it sure is hard not to love all that color. I also love the hustle and bustle of it all because it feels so much more productive (yet relaxing) than the “hustle and bustle” in my day-to-day corporate life… Of course, what would be really fun would be to have bounty like that from our own land someday.
