Erich over at Cached Memories summed up the weekend-before-last in southeastern Minnesota better than I could, but I still feel obligated to post something…
Here’s the rundown.

It was just really nice to just spend time around

Great pictures. What are the blue flowers?
I like your post better. It’s not as bogged down with details and intestinal disorders.
That’s a beautiful brown trout photo. Man, if my boss knew how much enjoyment I was experiencing at work right now…Thanks for the reprieve.
lené — thanks. I believe they are kentucky or virginia bluebells. somebody correct me if I’m wrong.
erich — that was not a big fish, but truly a beautiful one. the picture doesn’t do it justice. As I was getting it near me, I thought maybe I had actually snagged it (the last one I’d gotten was actually hooked in it’s back) because there was this bright red spot on it’s back. Then I realized I was using a green caddis pupae for a fly and it was actually the fin right before it’s tail with a brilliant red spot on it. Like I said, the picture doesn’t do it justice. The other red spots on its body were equally bright.
as for the intestinal disorders thing, I thought you must be referring to your post about your wife, and then realized that no, you also wrote about intestinal problems in your road trip post… now I see what you mean when you say you’ve been criticized by some readers lately for your blog going “downhill.”
Right. I’m trying to pull it out of the poop rut.
From my amateur herpetology knowledge base I would agree that those are Kentucky Bluebells. I just learned that. Did you find any morels? I’m guessing that it’s a bit cold for them to come out en masse. It has to get above freezing for them.
I noticed your Subaru has been Photoshopped. Is that to hide from other anglers who follow you to the hotspots? Or is it because big brother is so decidedly against the road trip festivities these days?
We didn’t find any morels, though I’ve actually never really looked for them either. Truthfully, I’m afraid of wild mushrooms because I’ve heard they can look very similar and one can be poisonous and the other not. Not morels specifically, but my unbeatable fear of death by diarrhea has discouraged me from ever trying…
Funny you noticed the license plate. I originally posted the photo un-altered, but the ever-paranoid Mrs. Dharma Bum requested I conceal its identity… Something about identity theft or who the heck knows. Since it’s actually her car, I didn’t have much choice.
